Classes
The Rathbone Studio has a wide range of classes from Beginners through to Advanced and even dedicated Sculptural and Crockery Focused classes to suit a range of ambitions and creative impulses.

Pottery Class Information

Duration
Two hour workshops over five taught weeks with one break week to allow for drying/firing.
Lesson Content
Week 1 - Pinch Pots and Clay Handling | Week 5 - Drying Week, No Lesson This Week as your pieces will be Bisque Fired ready for oxides |
Week 2 - Starting Vessels and Decorative Technique | Week 6 - Final Touches and Oxide Decoration with Glaze |
Week 3 - Coiling and Clay Structure | Pickup of Items - Items can be collected after they are high fired for you. You will be contacted and can collect at your convenience. |
Week 4 - Form Building and Sgraffito Decoration |
Cost
£150 for five classes over six weeks. (One week break to allow drying/firing)
This works out to £30.00 per class (includes materials)
£50 Deposit - Remaining £100 paid on first day of class
All ceramics made during the classes will be yours to keep after firing

Notes
Please be aware that these are classes and not workshops. Techniques will focus on foundational hand building skills, understanding clay types and use of tools.
Throughout each course you will be given examples of items to build that week as a goal to demonstrate what you have learned, but we welcome you to be creative in adapting the look and style of those items to your particular creative vision and tastes.
